Welcome to MCN
Welcome to the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN) and the Victorian Node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF).
The mission of MCN is to facilitate the integration of nanotechnology techniques into the Research and Development activities that support Australia’s innovation and manufacturing economies.
The ANFF was established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) to provide open access to state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and processes for the industrial, research and academic communities. The MCN is a joint venture facility that brings together the technical expertise of six Victorian universities and CSIRO to support the mission of ANFF.
The ANFF-Victorian Node comprises MCN and a significant array of additional, supporting capabilities that are located in the laboratories of each of the partner institutions. The MCN is operated by Monash University on behalf of the stakeholders, as an unincorporated joint venture.

The MCN and its ANFF-Vic Partner Nodes provide an extensive array of fabrication and characterisation equipment. The MCN also provides a collaboration environment for engagement between academic and industry clients, or simply for direct industry access (fee for service, assisted access or by full collaboration with MCN staff).

The MCN provides a free consulting service by utilising the expertise of its on-site process engineers and eight resident MCN Technology Fellows.
Capabilities that are housed within MCN support the development of solutions for many national priorities and industry needs in areas such as solar energy, biosensing, micro/nano fluidic devices, bio/nano drug delivery, micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), micro/nano optics and medical bionics.

More broadly, the ANFF-Victorian Node also includes capabilities for use in polymer fibre electrospinning, surface modification and characterisation, electron microscopy and new materials.
