Bernie has a multidisciplinary background in materials science and engineering (BSc - Purdue University), business administration (MBA - Arizona State University), and management.

At MCN, Bernie oversees technical engineering teams, laboratory operations, and equipment performance to deliver high-quality fabrication and consultation services. His teams support industry and academic clients in application-oriented research, prototype development, and small-volume production. He also ensures regulatory compliance within MCN’s ISO-certified environment and drives cost optimisation and continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles.

Bernie leads MCN’s Analytics/AI initiatives, chairing the MCN Analytics/AI Working Group to optimise operations and implement AI & Advanced Analytics. The group focuses on enhancing data literacy, improving client services, ensuring ethical AI use, and advancing applications within MCN.

Before MCN, Bernie spent 17 years at Intel Corporation in semiconductor fabrication, specialising in process development, characterisation, advanced data analytics, technology startups, business operations, and cost reduction.

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Bernie enjoys exploring the unique sites of Australia with his family. A passionate sports fan, he has embraced AFL and holds his own in the office footy tipping competition.
